Before The Eyes of God
(Claudia Scott)

Her eyes are deep
Open wide
Looks as if
She’s hollow inside
Hollow from hunger
Hollow from pain
No tears to wash away in the rain

She’s had it all
Happen to her
Lost herself
Her child and fear
Lost her name
And her country too
The sky is a shadow
That once was blue

Before the eyes of God we crucify
The innocent
Hear the children cry
We see the daggers
But we’re paralysed
What have we done?
Can you tell me why?

We read the papers
It’s on TV
Has it made us blind
‘Till we can’t see
Blinded our minds
Blinded our hearts
But they’re too far away
And we’re worlds apart

Before the eyes of God we crucify
The innocent
Hear the children cry
We see the daggers
But we’re paralysed
What have we done?
Can you tell me why?
